President Obama to speak directly to Students PreK to 12

According to Robert Gibbs, those who have complained about the President's speech to virtually all students on 9/8/09 is just silliness. Really? Is it unreasonable to think that the speech and the treatment of it in some classrooms might lead to some political pressure on those children who don't agree with the President's policies?

I am reminded of this video of discussions of the Presidential Election

That young girl, who's father serves the United States military, should not have had to endure that kind of abuse.

Or how about this little nugget!

I pledge to be of service to President Obama? That was shown to school children in Utah recently. Is that what he has planned for 9/8/09? Will he be discussing "service" to the community? Or, will he be just repeating "do your best!" Do we need the President of the United States to do this in light of the real danger of some using the occasion to preach the greatness of THIS MAN? Isn't encouraging children to study hard best left to parents and teachers? If ever there was a need for subsidiarity I think it is right here. Silly season, indeed! If any "hazing" or attempts at indoctrination occur as a result of this "speech" I don't see why the President shouldn't be held personally responsible since 1) the speech is not necessary and 2) that this sort of thing has occurred in the run up to the election is a matter record. Please tell me why that is silly Mr. Gibbs.
